An extended car-following model at un-signalized intersections under V2V communication environment

چکیده
An extended car-following model is proposed in this paper to analyze the impacts of V2V (vehicle to vehicle) communication on the micro driving behavior at the un-signalized intersection. A four-leg un-signalized intersection with twelve streams (left-turn, through movement, and right turn from each leg) is used. The effect of the guidance strategy on the reduction of the rate of stops and total delay is explored by comparing the proposed model and the traditional FVD car-following model. The numerical results illustrate that potential conflicts between vehicles can be predicted and some stops can be avoided by decelerating in advance. The driving comfort and traffic efficiency can be improved accordingly. More benefits could be obtained under the long communication range, low to medium traffic density, and simple traffic pattern conditions.

Modeling Multiple–Vehicle Property Damage Collisions in Urban Signalized Intersections
Development of disaggregate models for estimating different property damage collision type frequencies in urban intersections has rarely been studied, particularly in Iran. It seems very little research work being implemented for studying the effect factors on collision type frequency at intersections. The main objective of this paper is to develop suitable statistical models to predict types o...

At some intersections, excessive queue lengths may spill out of the left-turn bay and block the through lanes, jeopardizing level of service for the entire intersection. One of the most effective plans recently presented by the researchers is the "Contraflow left-turn lane" (CLL) In this method, left-turn vehicles will use the nearest lane in the opposite direction in addition to the usual left...
متن کاملThe hazards of pedestrian mobile-phone use when crossing signalized intersections, Iran (2017); an observational study
Background: Distracted walking is a major cause of pedestrian fatalities. Along with the expansion and popularity of mobile phones, their impacts on pedestrian safety, especially when crossing urban intersections have attracted a lot of attention. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of mobile-phone use on pedestrians’ crossing behavior when passing signalized intersections. Ma...
متن کاملV2V-Intersection Management at Roundabouts
More than 44% of all automotive crashes occur in intersections. These incidents in intersections result in more than 8,500 fatalities and approximately 1 million injuries each year in USA [1,18]. It is also established that roundabouts are safer than junctions. According to a study of a sampling of roundabouts in the United States, when compared with the junctions they replaced, roundabouts hav...

Non-motorized vehicles (i.e. rickshaws) and small size motorized vehicles (i.e. auto-rickshaws) are popular para-transit modes that provided door-to-door service in congested parts of Dhaka metropolitan area. Improper design of signal timing at signalized intersections is one of the reasons of traffic congestion in Dhaka metropolitan area. For capacity analysis, to convert the mixed traffic flo...
